Getting Started with the Oracle BPEL Process Manager
Thank you for using Oracle BPEL Process Manager. We would suggest the following steps for getting started developing BPEL processes:

1)

Start the BPEL Process Manager
On Windows, you can go to the Start menu and click on
Programs > Oracle - ... > Oracle BPEL Process Manager 10.1.2 > Start BPEL PM Server.
On Unix platforms like Linux and Solaris, you should run
orabpel/bin/startOraBPEL.sh.
Please wait until the server is completely loaded before opening the BPEL Console. |

Start the JDeveloper BPEL Designer (Only if Installed)
On Windows, you can go to the Start menu and click on
Programs > Oracle - ... > Oracle BPEL Process Manager 10.1.2 > JDeveloper BPEL Designer.
Note: The JDeveloper BPEL designer is not bundled with Weblogic and JBoss versions of the product. |

Connect to the BPEL Console
Once the BPEL server has finished loading, open the BPEL Console by pointing a browser at: http://lodge:9700/BPELConsole which will prompt you to log in (the initial password for the default BPEL domain is "bpel"). The BPEL Console requires Internet Explorer 6, currently, but you can access it from anywhere since it is a web application. |

Follow QuickStart Tutorial
Next we suggest going through the Oracle BPEL Process Manager QuickStart Guide and the Order Booking tutorial document located on the OTN BPEL page as a good way to get started learning about BPEL and Oracle‘s BPEL tools. It includes an overview of the tools provided, a tutorial building a simple BPEL process from scratch using the JDeveloper BPEL Designer and a walkthrough of the Order Booking BPEL process - a relatively sophisticated BPEL demo application. |
