Industrial Development,Changing National Situations and the Strategy of EconomicModernization :An Analysis of National Situations for China‘s Growing into a LargeIndustrial State ( http://www. ) Chen Jiagui Huang Qunhui The recent modernization process and practice in China suggest that ,a scientificunderstanding and grasp of the national situations provides foundations and prerequisitesfor successful developments.That is the conceptual core of the “Chinese experience.” ( http://www. ) It is out of an awareness of the importance of such understanding that the authorsof this article try to build up a new framework for analyzing the national economicsituation ,based on existing literature.This framework is applied in their analysisof the changing situation of China‘s economic development following 20years ’rapid industrialization.It is pointed out that China has accomplished its transformationto a large industrial country from a large agricultural one.In other words ,Chinahas entered a new stage of economic modernization ,in which the priority shouldbe put on the building of a powerful industrial country out of a large one,andon the further promotion of industrial modernization.The new stage requires newstrategic choice.In terms of technological development ,priority should be givento autonomous innovation and more investment to basic research.In terms of economicgrowth,efforts should be made to stimulate alternative economic growth patterns,and to adopt new patterns of new industrial development in heavy chemical industry.In terms of industrial development strategy ,all industries should be developedwith new strategy and orientation.And in terms of economic institutional reform,more efforts should be made to further deepen the market-oriented reform.
