If you're troubleshooting a Windows XP system that is encountering problems receiving Group Policy updates during working hours, you may want to adjust the Group Policy refresh interval.

By default, the refresh interval is set to 90 minutes on all Windows XP systems. This means that many clients could be requesting policy updates at the same time, and the server could be getting overloaded with simultaneous requests. Therefore, the system in question my not be able to receive Group Policy updates.

However, you can reset the refresh interval to any value between 0 and 64,800 minutes (45 days). In addition, you can set an interval offset, which further randomizes the refresh period to any value between 0 and 1,440 minutes (24 hours).

You'll want to change the refresh interval for both the User Configuration and Computer Configuration settings. Since the instructions for each are identical, we'll combine the names as Computer/User Configuration in our steps.

Here's how to adjust the refresh interval:

Launch the Group Policy console (Gpedit.msc).

Go to Computer/User Configuration, expand Administrative Templates, expand System, and click Group Policy.

Select the Enabled option button.

或许有人天真的想，我的客户端机器，只要不注销，不重启，任你管理员如何去修改组策略，影响不到我，与我无关。这是天真的想法，也是很自然的疑问。要解答这个疑问，就要引入一个新的机制，组策略刷新时间。本质上，不管你不重启不注销也不关机，浪费公司的电，刷新时间到了，你还是得去应用组策略设置，魔高一尺，道高一丈，大家都玩的很开心。

1、对于域控，五分钟是一个刷新周期，这让我联想到了默认域控策略，但新策略还是用新GPO，因为你的默认域控策略挂了，你可以使用dcgpofix恢复初始状态，但你另加的设置就没了，分隔开来，就不存在这种问题了；

2、对于客户端或是成员服务器，默认是90分钟，也就是一个半钟，考虑到实际环境，这个时间有30分钟的增长，也就是一个半钟到两个钟，而所谓的实际环境也就是如果此时DC繁忙，客户端可以排排队等等，我们去银行总是这样，弄丢了卡本来就不爽，还要填单排队，更不爽，去银行你就不要指望准时出来；

3、前面两点没什么说的，很多地方都有所述，但是如果没有策略更新，客户端同样要在16个小时拿一次更新，这点似乎对成员服务器更有效，因为客户端工作16个小时的话，早就怨声载道了，服务器就不一样了，我们要求它7X24，人们都说身娇肉贵，服务器恰恰相反，身价不低，但却是劳碌命，什么时候挂了，什么休息下，此时或许要落得个开膛破肚的下场；
