February 13 evening, around 5:30pm, People started to rush home during the rush hour. The bus route 815 Near Guomao area was over crowded; the door was blocked by passengers, some passengers struggled to climb into bus from the windows. A traffic police tried to keep the order but failed, and could only help pack the passengers into the car one by one. 15 minutes later, this serious overload bus finally set off. According to traffic police, at rush hour this place is always jam-packed, and things were even worse on Monday.
The destination for bus 815 is Yanjiao, a city of 30 KM east to Beijing, actually it is not part of Beijing, but in nearby Hebei Province, they can not afford the high houses in Beijing and rush to this town to buy cheaper houses, Several hundred thousand outsiders live in this town and work in Beijing, so this town is called “sleepers` town”. Everyday these outsiders have to suffer in the crowded buses, and they have got used to this kind of overcrowded conditions, that`s the price of living in Beijing.
