How to Setup Remote Desktop Licensing in Windows Server 2008 (formerly known as How to Setup a Terminal Server License server) Created by Guillermo Musumeci - Date: July 9, 2010 This procedure explains how to setup the Remote Desktop Licensing in Windows Server 2008 step by step. Step 1: On the server on which you want to install the RD Licensing role service, open Server Manager. To open Server Manager, click Start, Administrative Tools, and then click Server Manager. On the Select Server Roles page, select the Remote Desktop Services check box, and then click Next  Step 2: On the Select Role Services page, select the Remote Desktop Licensing check box, and then click Next  Step 3: On the Configure Discovery Scope for RD Licensing page, you can specify a discovery scope for the license server. In our example, we choose This domain  Step 4: Click Install button to continue  Step 5: Click Close button to continue  Step 6: to Activate the License server, we need to open the RD Licensing Manager console. To open RD Licensing Manager, click Start, Administrative Tools, Remote Desktop Services, and then click RD Licensing Manager.  Step 7: right click on the License server and click on Activate Server  Step 8: Click Next button to start the Wizard  Step 9: select Automatic connection and click Next button  Step 10: Enter your information and click Next button to continue  Step 11: Enter your information and click Next button to continue  Step 12: The license server has been activated. Select the Start Install Licenses Wizard now check box and Enter your information and click Next button to continue  Step 13: Click Next button to continue  Step 14: Select your License Program and click Next button to continue. In our environment, we are using a Enterprise Agreement.  Step 15: Enter your Agreement number and click Next button to continue.  Step 16: Enter Quantity of licenses and click Next button to continue.  Step 17: Click Finish button to end the process  Step 18: the console show licenses installed  |
