       hard-working、 dilligent、industrious

         这组形容词都可表示“勤奋的”意思。这三个词都指对工作、学习、活动的专心

和勤奋，意义区别不大，只是语气的强弱而已。hard-working 非正式用词，

diligent 正式用词，industrious 语气最强。

       

 1) I am sure that a hard-working person can always succeed in the work which he wants to do.

  （我确信一个苦干的人终能成功地做好他想要做的工作。）

2) If I had been more diligent at school and university I could have been a doctor or a lawyer.

  （倘若我在中学和大学更勤奋地学习的话，我可能已成为一名医生或律师。）

3) Although he is not much of a diligent student, he always keeps his grades above the average.

  （虽然他并不是一个勤奋的学生,他总是保持他的成绩在一般水平之上。）

4) My boss is an industrious person; he always attends to the solution of important business on

    his own.

  （我的老板是一个勤奋的人,重要事务他总是亲自处理。）

5) The new supervisor was so industrious that she never cleared her desk before the closing

time.

  （新主管很勤快,在下班之前总能见她在伏案工作。）
