在名词词组里,不定冠词a或an一般放在最前面。

He is a muscular young man.他是个健壮的年轻人。
Medical knowledge alone doesn't make a good doctor.单有医学知识并不能成为一名好医生。

在名词词组里如果有many,such,what等修饰时,不定冠词要放在这些词的后面。

Many a famous pop star has been ruined by drugs.很多著名的流行音乐歌星都因吸毒而毁了自己。
I could not conceive that he should do such a silly thing.我不能想象他竟会干这种傻事。
What a worry that child is!那个小孩真烦人!

形容词前有as,so,too,how,however等修饰时,不定冠词须置于形容词之后,名词之前。

He is as great a man as ever lived.他像世上任何一个伟人一样伟大。
She is not so big a fool as you think.她并不像你想象的那样蠢。
He is too kind a person to refuse.他是个好心人,不会拒绝的。
How large a room do you live?你住多大的房间？
We must do something,on however humble a scale.不论多么微不足道,我们都得做点什么。

在含有形容词比较级的句子中,不定冠词须置于形容词比较级之后。

This is more complex an idea than the others he has presented.这个观点比他提出的其他观点都要复杂。

副词quite或rather可置于不定冠词之前,也可置于其后。置于其前时语气较强,置于其后时语气较弱。

He is quite a skilled worker.他确实是个熟练的工人。
He is a quite skilled worker.他是个相当熟练的工人。
It's rather a difficult job.这份工作真的很难做。
It's a rather difficult job.这份工作颇为难做。

表示时间、距离和数量时,不定冠词多放在half与名词之间,也可放在half与名词之前。

Barbara struggled forward for about half a mile.巴巴拉艰难地向前走了大约半英里。
They hid in the mountain for half a year.他们躲在山里达半年之久。
He held off for a half hour because of the rain.因为下雨,他晚了半个小时才动身。
