TIME

  Ladies and gentlemen, keep calm please. Don’t laugh at me for there have been two classmates talked about it. Do you agree with them? Do you also think “time is more valuable than money”？ Today, in my writing, you will find some new opinions.

  We all know the proverb that “Time is money”. Why so many people change it “time is more valuable than money”? In their opinions, they insist that if you waste money, you can work harder later to make up it and even earn more than what you have wasted. But for the time, it doesn’t work. Time is the one-shot consumer goods. However, what I should tell them is money is also the one-shot consumer goods. If you waste your money in the lottery, you will never get the money back, although you will gain the same money later. Yes! I’m sure that it is same. However, only in the concept of number are they same, and they are different in their contents. The former is nothing in it because you have wasted it. What was worse, any amount of money cannot make up it. It is like a stream, never going back. So is the time.

  In fact, time and money are in the same stage. When you waste money, it is the time you waste your time. The course of wasting money is in need of killing time. In the other hand, when you waste your time in some unnecessary entertainments, you are wasting you chances to earn money at the same time. In another words, it equals you are wasting your money. Therefore, please keep a serious attitude to both your time and your money. It is common that you will be worried to see the money in your pocket less and less. However, it is also familiar with many people that wandering along roads all day, suffering the internet in their all leisure, playing ball games from the dawn to the afternoon and so on. Wasting time is forgiven by himself easier than wasting money. Why? I think he must read my word above again and again. If everyone treats his time as this money, the world will run more efficiently.

  How to change time into money? Different people have different abilities. For a student, two hours maybe mean twenty dollars, because he can only do some elementary jobs such as being a server. For a mechanic, two hours equal two hundreds dollars or maybe four hundreds dollars according to their professional levels. And for a successful business man, sorry, I cannot tell you the accurate numbers because they are too long. What do you think about it? What I can say is just “knowledge is power”.

  I know you must impatiently ask me how to change money into time. As money is an object while time is abstract, you must be puzzled. To connect them is impossible. However, “Nothing is impossible” the logo says well. In fact, you have taking it for granted for a long time. When you swing your hand at one side of the roads, there will be a taxi serving for you. It means you will save a lot of time on the traveling to your destination. Instead of wasting your time, you exchange it with your money. The obvious example is that you can travel the entire world with only less than one hundred dollars if you pay for your network service. Compared with the way of walking, surfing the internet is more comfortable and takes less time. You change your money into your time for another time. There are so many examples that no man can enumerate them. In one word, we not only did it in the past, but also do it now and will do it forever.

  As a colleague student, although we don’t have a lot of money, we have time. In another words, we are rich, too. The situation we must face is how we change our time into our material treasures. You may tell me that to earn money is easy. You lay down your bag and go straight into a shop, and then ask “Do you want a part-time worker?” In the ordinary course of things, you will get a part-time job. At the end of the month, you will get a small amount of money. Seriously, are you content with it, collegers? We have accepted advanced education and we are different from the peasants, who can do the same job. What we should do is to spent our main leisure on studies and be good in our professional field. Only in the situation will we get higher but suitable salaries when we start our careers formally. Therefore if you are lack of money to complete your study, it is wise to hunt a job, or a part-time job. At the other hand, if you only take your little money earning by your part-time job to promote your entertainments, I think you should take advantage of the time in library.

   Treating time as a huge number of treasures doesn’t mean putting all your time on your study or your career. It is said that Bill Gates will lose ten thousands dollars when he bends his back to pick something from the floor. Maybe it is so ostentatious. Whatever it is true or not, if a stranger falls down in front of Gates, I think it is more meaningful for Gates to assist him than taking advantage of the seconds to gain two or four thousands dollars. What he stretches out is only his hands while what he receives is his noble-minded. To our students, it is more important. Divide our time into some main sections, some for study, some for entertainments, and some for our friends and our parents. What is more important, I think the last part. What are the targets of our life? In my mind, we are living for a good feeling. I insist that my friends are important and my parents are still more important. Without them, I will find I live for nothing. Please vacate some time so that you can enjoy the life with your friends and your parents together. Then you will find although you lose your time for learning, for working, you are richer and richer in your spirits.Therefore, in some sense, compared with money, you will have got more when you are in the group of your friends. There is an old story. Long long ago, there lived a key man, who was in charge of a huge finance group. Compared with the poors, he was even poorer, because he owned nothing but money. Everyday he walked along the road witha long face. One day, he met a lovely girl by accidence. Deeply moved by the little girl’s sweaty smile, he felt a strong sense of happiness from his heart. An idea struck him that the reason why he fell into the abyss of negative emotion was that he devoted himself to his career completely and paid fewer attentions on his relatives. Without the love of his family, it was hollow for him such as a plant without any nutrition. What does it tell us? Is it necessary to send short messages to your old friends, who you have not met for a long time? And is it wise to give a call to your parents, who have been praying to you every moment. What a little thing! What a wonderful life you will find! 

  Time is not everything. But without time everything is nothing. We cannot control the length of our life but we can change its width broader and broader. Nothing is impossible. It is for the man who is richer in time. If you cannot pay for it, I must say sorry to you. To you, everything is impossible. Seriously! There is a common proverb that when you look back your whole career in your last time of life, if no regrets, no sadness, no so many sighs for your time, you have been a true man and everyone should take proud of you for what you have done.
