A police officer who was sniggered at and taunted by passers-by as she walked down the street has gone on to lose 14 stone in less than a year.
At an incredible 25 stone and size 32 dress Carolyn Kendall was often referred to as a 'fat pig'.
Desperate to escape the constant humiliation and snorting that followed her as she worked on the beat she took a desk job.
'People would shout 'fat pig' and snort at me. It's an offence and in theory I could have dealt with it, but I couldn't arrest everyone who did it!' she said to the Sunday Mirror.
Carolyn said her weight ballooned when she joined the police aged 28. The stress of the job meant she turned to cakes and sweets and soon regular sized uniforms would not fit.
'I couldn't fasten up the largest men's trousers. I had to get some specially made. It took six months,' she said.
But it was a 15-second appearance on TV that spurred Carolyn into action and she decided it was time to shift the weight.
Carolyn, 49, had appeared in an ITV documentary about a choir which lead to a backlash on social networking site Twitter.
'There were some really nasty, vicious comments made about my size because I was a police officer. Without any idea about my professional capabilities, just because i was fat, I was useless,' said Carolyn.
'I was on television for about 15 seconds in the three-part documentary and said one sentence, they then showed me walking through the shopping precinct in my uniform.
'When I saw all those horrible comments on Twitter I decided I didn't need to read anymore and it was time to do something about it.'
She has now put her days of being a blobby on the beat behind her and managed to shed an incredible 14 stone in ten months after signing up for LighterLife, a meal replacement plan used by actress Pauline Quirke.
Mother-of-two Carolyn, who said her size held her back when it came to promotions, now has a new job as a custody sergeant.
