Can facial masks lead to death? A Chinese microblogger said on the afternoon of Aug. 8, “The Watsons store on the second floor of Wanda Plaza in Fuzhou’s Cangshan district encountered a product quality issue. A consumer twitched convulsively after applying a facial mask she bought at the store, and died a few minutes later. Her husband and other family members gathered at the store seeking an explanation.”
The reporter arrived at the Watsons store at around 5 p.m. that day, but found the family of the deceased woman had already left. “About an hour ago, the woman’s husband was still shouting angrily in front of the store, saying that only a few minutes after his wife applied a Watsons facial mask, her face turned black. She had a nosebleed and then died suddenly. He said he was doing so to demand an explanation from Watsons, which failed to make an appropriate response to the death of his wife,” said an employee at a nearby store.
