JERUSALEM, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Israeli army troops detained a Palestinian suspected of attacking a Jewish settler in the West Bank Tuesday morning, Israel National News reported.
The incident took place at the entrance to the settlement of Ma 'aleh Levona. The assailant approached a resident there and struck him with an axe before fleeing the scene, the report said.
Medics from the community provided the victim with initial treatment. He was then evacuated to Sha'arei Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem.
Israeli security forces launched a search for the assailant, who was captured shortly after fleeing the scene of attack. The report said Palestinian villagers in the area hurled rocks at the troops while the manhunt was in progress.
A military spokeswoman said further details of the incident were not immediately available.
