CANBERRA, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- So far four merchant vessels and HMAS Maitland recovered 54 survivors of the asylum seeker boat that sank off Java in Indonesia on Wednesday morning, According to the latest statement of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority ( AMSA) .
Today's search and rescue operation will include three merchant vessels and two aircraft from Perth.
All vessels will transfer the survivors to Indonesian rescue vessels early this morning. Although 54 have been rescued, more than 90 people are still missing.
