BEIJING, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- A feature film has been shot on Wu Renbao, the retired Communist Party of China (CPC) chief of Huaxi Village, one of the richest villages in east China's Jiangsu Province and known for its success in realizing common prosperity.

A press conference was held at the prestigious Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing on Wednesday to announce that "Wu Renbao" will be shown in cinemas nationwide beginning on Oct. 12.

Wu, now 85, starred in the film, playing the role of himself, Wu Renbao, in the movie. The movie is named for the former Party chief and tells his legendary stories of developing Huaxi into one of the richest villages in China, with annual sales revenue of 50 billion yuan (about 7.93 million U.S. dollars).

Wu worked hard over past decades to lead his villagers in striving for common wealth, an ideal regarded as one of the core principles of socialism.

Wu has been hailed as an outstanding example among the country's numerous rural Party members.

In fact, Huaxi Village has become Greater Huaxi Village since grouping 16 smaller neighboring villages together, with the aim to help other villages develop economy and improve villagers' income.
