HONG KONG, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- The founders of Hong Kong charity group "Crossroads Foundation" Malcolm Begbie and Sally Begbie have been recognized with one of Australia's highest civilian awards, the Australian Consulate-General in Hong Kong said in a press release issued on Tuesday.

The two were appointed "Officers of the Order of Australia" by Australian Consul-General Paul Tighe at a ceremony witnessed by Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Carrie Lam.

The "Crossroads Foundation" routinely receives donations from thousands of organizations and individuals in Hong Kong. They distribute half of the donations to people in need within Hong Kong and the balance to over 60 countries of the world.

Their work covers four main services, including direct aid, a United Nation matching service for corporations and NGOs, a "fair trade" market place, and experiential learning around global poverty, health and other humanitarian issues.
