OKLAHOMA CITY – For Katie Hill (18) and Arin Andrews (15) being in love with each other is wonderfully amazing. But it wasn’t always like that.
Both Katie and Arin were once the opposite of who they are today. Katie was born a boy and Arin was born a girl and life as they knew it then was for each one pure misery.
Katie came into the world as Luke and Arin, born a girl, was given the birth name Emerald. Both grew up feeling trapped in the wrong body. They felt out of place, were lonely, miserable and teased by friends in school.

Luke couldn’t handle his life as a boy and with his parents permission, he went to a clinic in Oklahoma to undergo a sex change operation and get female hormonal treatment.
That’s when Luke became Katie and when she met Emerald who goes by the name Arin and who was at the clinic to receive male hormone treatments. Arin is physically still a girl but says he can’t wait to have both the top and bottom surgeries completed.
For both teens it was instant attraction, not just physically but mentally and spiritually. They understood each other, they completed one another, they were a perfect fit.
The misery Katie had felt when she was still a boy disappeared completely not only now that she was a young woman, but ever since she met Arin.
For Arin, the emotions were identical to Katie’s when he was still Emerald. As a young girl, she too fell out of place, didn’t belong, didn’t fit in. It wasn’t until she became Arin, that he was finally happy. That happiness augmented to pure joy when he met Katie.
Since they met, the two have been inseparable.
“We fit together perfectly, because we grew up with the same problems,” says Katie. “Nobody points fingers at us any longer because we are finally a ‘real’ boy and girl.”
“No one is bothered by our appearance any longer,” the well adjusted couple says.
