China concerned about Japan-Taiwan fishery deal

BEIJING, April 10 (Xinhua) -- China is seriously concerned about a fishery agreement that Japan and Taiwan are close to signing, a spokesman for China's Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.

Spokesman Hong Lei said at a regular press briefing that China's policy on Taiwan's contact with foreign countries is consistent and clear.

China hopes Japan will honor its commitment on the Taiwan issue and handle the situation properly and prudently, he added.
