A:	I'm trying to figure out the value of these stocks, but I'm not sure of the best way.
B:	The price-to-earnings ratio is a good basic metric. You calculate it by dividing the share price by the earnings per share. The lower the number, the cheaper the stock.
A:	Yeah, I've had a look at that, but it doesn't really tell me anything about the company's growth prospects.
B:	Well, you can get an idea about that by using the price/earnings-to-growth ratio.
A:	That's based on estimates, though, and they could turn out to be wrong.
B:	True. There are other valuation ratios you can look at, including price-to-cash flow and debt-to-equity, but you don't want to get too bogged down in stats!
