Leonard E. Samuels和Mr. George Vander Voort。ASM出版的两位的技术书籍《Metallographic Polishing by Mechanical Methods》、《Metallography: Principles and Practice》,揭示了金相实验技术中的最新研究成果,对有关人士的具体实践具有直接的指导意义。 参考资料: [1] [2] [3] [1] Dr. Leonard E. Samuels, FASM, Life Member, of Burwood, Victoria, Australia, passed away at the age of 87. He was one of the best-known Australian metallurgists of his generation. He built his expertise as an optical microscopist and metallographer during his career working for Australia’s Munitions Supply Laboratories, later named the Defence Standards Lab- oratories. Recognizing the importance of surface preparation, he sought to apply more scientific practices to metallography. His book, Metallographic Polishing by Mechanical Methods, published by ASM International, extended to four editions. He authored Optical Microscopy of Carbon Steels, and its updated edition, Light Microscopy of Carbon Steels, also published by ASM International. [2] Mr. George Vander Voort, Director of Research and Technology for Buehler Ltd., is a graduate of Drexel University and Lehigh University with a background in metallurgy and materials science and 29 years experience in the specialty steel industry. A past president of the International Metallographic Society and past chairman of ASTM Committee E-4 on Metallography, George is the USA representative to ISO on metallography. He has six patents and over 250 publications including Metallography: Principles and Practice (McGraw-Hill, 1984; ASMI, 1999), the ASM video course, Principles of Metallography, and Buehler’s Guide to Materials Preparation. He recently served as a trustee for ASM International and was the editor for the 2004 revision of Volume 9 of the ASM Handbook, Metallography and Microstructures. He a member of the editorial boards of Materials Characterization, Praktische Metallographie and the Intl. Journal of Microstructure and Materials Properties. George has taught over 60 ASM Metals Engineering Institute courses, has given many seminars and workshops for Buehler and various technical societies and has given over 350 lectures in 36 countries. He is a fellow of ASMI and ASTM and has 30 awards for his microscopy work including the Jacquet-Lucas Grand Prize and the Dubose-Crouse Award of the International Metallographic Contest. |
