【英语】不一样的乔布斯

    2011年10月5日，“苹果教父”乔布斯（Steve Jobs)与世长辞！今天是中国传统节日中元节，小编想给同学们讲一些“乔帮主”不为人知的故事，以寄托对逝去之人的哀思。乔布斯生前曾给他的妻子Laurene Powell写过一封诀别信：

We didn't know much about each othertwenty years ago. We were guided by our intuition; you swept me off my feet. Itwas snowing when we got married at the Ahwahnee. Years passed, kids came, goodtimes, hard times, but never bad times. Our love and respect has endured andgrown. We've been through so much together and here we are right back where westarted 20 years ago - older and wiser - with wrinkles on our faces and hearts.We now know many of life's joys, sufferings, secrets and wonders and we'restill here together. My feet have never returned to the ground.

二十年前我们不太熟，只是跟着感觉，你把我迷住了。我们在阿瓦尼结婚那天，天上飘着雪。这么多年过去，我们有了孩子，经历过好日子、艰难的日子，但从来都没有过不好的日子。我们的爱长长久久与日俱增。我们一起经历了这么多，现在，我们又回到了二十年前开始的地方——只是我们老了，也更明事理了——皱纹在我们的脸上心上都留下了痕迹。现在，感受到了生活中如此多的欢乐、痛苦、秘密和神奇，我们仍然在一起。我对你的爱从未少过。

短短的一封信让我们看到了“乔帮主”温柔的一面，其实，他还有很多不为人知的小秘密：

1. His sister is a novelist,but he didn't know it until he was an adult.

直到成年后，他才知道自己有个小说家妹妹（叫Mona Simpson）。

2. He's a pescetarian. In other words, he eats fishbut no other meat.

乔帮主是鱼素者。也就是说除了鱼，其他动物的肉他都不吃。

3. He doesn't give any moneyto charity. And when he became Apple's CEO he stopped all of their philanthropicprograms. He said, "wait until we are profitable".

他从没为慈善事业捐过一分钱。在他升任苹果公司CEO之后就停止了苹果公司的一切慈善活动。他说“等我们盈利之后再说吧。”

4. He's a Zen Buddhist. Heeven thought about joining a monastery and becoming a monk.

他是禅宗佛教徒。他甚至想过去寺庙当和尚。

5. Steve Jobs went to Reed College for one semester and thendropped out.

乔布斯在里德学院读了一个学期大学之后就退学了。

6. He is employee No.0.

他是0号员工。

Steve Wozniak, Apple II engineer and co-founder, got Employee No.1. Jobswas assigned No.2 and protested until he received 0 because it came before 1.

斯蒂夫?沃兹尼亚克，苹果2号机型的工程师，也是苹果公司的联合创始人，拿到了1号牌。乔布斯原本被分配到2号牌，但是他不停抗议，直到最后拿到1号前的0号牌才罢休。

7．He wasn't the cleanest fellow.

他绝不是个爱干净的家伙。

While he worked at Atari, he was moved to the night shift because he hadpoor personal hygiene and smelled terrible.

在Atari工作期间，他曾被调去上夜班，就是因为他糟糕的个人卫生情况和身上难闻的气味。

8. He is a fruitarian.

他爱吃水果。

The company was named "Apple" in part because apples are hisfavorite food.

公司命名为“苹果”的部分原因就是苹果是他最爱的食物之一。

9. He got the President of PepsiCo to work forApple.

他怂恿百事可乐公司的总裁为苹果打工。

He convinced John Sculley to quit PepsiCo and become Apple's CEO by saying"Do you want to sell sugared water all your life or do you want to changethe world?"

他劝约翰?斯卡利辞去百事可乐的职务去苹果做CEO时说：“你是想一辈子卖糖水呢还是想改变世界呢？”

10. His salary:

11. He is a prankster.

他喜欢开玩笑。

During the introduction of the iPhone at Macworld 2007,he used the phone to call Starbucks and order 4000 lattes to go.
