Flex/AS3 Pan Zoom Component | Rockholla

A few years back, I started work on a diagramming web app of sorts for a client. I searched around for a while trying to find a Flex/Flash/Actionscript 3 class that would serve as the canvas, with pan and zoom capabilities, mouse wheel zooming support, etc. I did find Adobe’s Pan|Zoom component which was close, but its support for nothing other than panning/zooming bitmaps made it relatively useless. This is an attempt at an open-source general-purpose pan/zoom component for Flex.

Features include

• Flex 3 and 4 compatible
• Drag-n-drop panning
• Support for standard scrollbar operation
• Set the mouse wheel to either zoom or scroll vertically
• Add any Flex component to the container
• Extend the content container class to fit your needs
• Support for various custom zooming and panning operations/settings at runtime, including support for using scrollRect, zooming to a particular point, setting zoom speed etc.
