The smart guide to the perfect job interview

1. Since the  organiztion's search is a needs based endeavor, candidates must learn what those needs are and show the organization they can fulfill them.

2. The secondary needs that cause the firm to announce a job vacancy:
Growth; New strategic direction of the firm; New managers; Introduction of new technologies or products; Issues with a previous or incumbent employee; Emplyee workload or productivity problems;

3. Get ready for questions about your background, experiences, personaligy, education, and other information the firm believes is relevant to the job.

4. Sagacious interviewers can dig deep and get to issues obliquely to find out whether your are a good fit or not.

5. Perhaps one of the biggest impediments to a successful interview is the mismatch in expectations between the candidate and the prospective emplyer. Remember that they are looking to satisfy a set of requirements and they need to assess the candidate's ability to fill those needs, and they have a limited amount of time to do it.

6. The bottom line is that you must do your part to ensure that your expectations match the company's, or the interview will be less than perfect from the start.

7. do you want to do just well enough to ge the job, or do you want to perform at such a high level that you knock the cover off the ball? Either way, you must hone your presentation skills and refine your personal story to meet your objectives and those of the hiring firm. If you want a high-octane interview experience, you need to understand what knocking the ball out of the park by achieving the perfect job interview actually means.

8. You want them to salivate over the idea of hiring you. this is how you want the prospective hiring firm to feel about you.

9. The long run health of an enterprise is based on selecting and hiring people who can get the job done and improve the projet line of the business. As a rule, interview candidates want to learn from someone who has run a business, hired, managed, and (unfortuantely) fired people.

10. In order to get the most out of this book, you should:
be open to learning new techniques: be introspective; be diligent and accomplish the suggested exercises and practice the techniques; be receptive to criticism; be disciplined; be willing to concoct a plan; be faithful to the conduct of your work.

11.
