Give the spaces in your home a job, a purpose. When you think of these places and the function they are meant to serve it is easier to let them fulfill that purpose. It’s okay if the only function of an area is to be pretty or if it’s meant to be useful. No matter what the purpose of a space, don’t let them slack off on the job. No one wants an unemployed couch to support.

When I remind myself of these things, it’s easier to keep it all together and put it all where it goes. Or leave it be.
