Sudan president to meet Kiir in Juba on solution to conflict( Xinhua) 08:09, January 06, 2014 KHARTOUM, Jan. 5 -- Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir is to visit Juba, capital of SouthSudan on Monday, official Sudan radio reported.
"President al-Bashir will travel to Juba on Monday to meet with South Sudanese PresidentSalva Kiir Mayardit to review a solution for the conflict there," the report said.
During the past weeks, South Sudan has witnessed clashes between two military factions,one descending from the Dinka tribe, to which President Kiir belongs, and the otherdescending from the Nuer tribe, to which former vice president Riek Machar belongs.
The clashes have left more than 1,000 people dead and over 121, 600 civilians displaced.And some 63,000 others took refuge at various UN compounds around the country,according to UN reports.
Recently, the Inter-Governmental Authority for Development ( IGAD) announced thatofficial peace talks opened between the South Sudanese rivals in the Ethiopian capital ofAddis Ababa. (Editor:ZhangQian、Yao Chun) Related reading
