【Snorri的回答(12票)】: 翻译文献时遇到过多次"up to"的问题，在这里讲一下我的理解。 我认为，这里的up to指的是the number of operations needed is at most (up to) 1. 比如说，The prime factorization of an integer is unique up to ordering. 指的是 All the ways of prime factorizations of an integer can be reduced to an unique one in condition that we made at most (up to) 1 ordering operation. 既然up to 结构只是为了说明这个事实而产生的语句结构，而不是像isomorphism，manifold等是固定的名词性的数学概念，那么就没有必要专门为了它制造一个固定的中文对应表达。 我所见过和用过的翻译方式有以下几种，以例子说明： 1.The prime factorization of an integer is unique up to ordering. 不考虑排列顺序的情况下，整数的质因数分解是唯一的 2.Equilateral triangles are the same up to Euclidean similarity. 在相似变换下，所有的等边三角形都是相同的 或：所有的等边三角形在相似变换下可视为同一个。 3.The indefinite integral of f(x)=2x is F(x)=x^2 up to addition by a constant. f(x)=2x的不定积分是F(x)=x^2（或者相差一个常数） 4.there are 92 unique solutions up to permutations of the queens 不考虑皇后之间的排列组合情况的话，有92个互不相同的解。 5. two elements of X are equivalent up to the group action. X中的两个元素在群作用意义下等价。 6.there are two different groups of order 4 up to isomorphism. 在（群）同构意义下，只有两个不同的四元素群。 或：若将同构的群视为同一个的话，则只有两个不同的四元素群。 或：不同的四元素群只有两个（如果同构的群视为相同）。 7.There is only one infinite cyclic group up to isomorphism 无限循环群在同构意义下只有一个。 也见过有说用“上至同构唯一”来对应“unique up to isomorphism”，我认为太过生硬，而且无助于理解。我认为学术翻译的重点是将作者想解释清楚的东西用翻译后的语言重新解释清楚。大的布局谋篇，比如证明思路、框架，某个结论的证明是为了在后面某处使用等等是需要尊重的，但太小的句式结构就没有必要死板地尊重，只需要说明白其中想表达的东西就好了。读者期待的也不是你的句子多么的“忠于原著”，而是能否看得明白。 【正皓的回答(0票)】: 视语境而定吧。 应该是“对XX操作保持不变”吧 原文地址:知乎 |
