Hyllie plaza is a city square, designed as a stylizedbeech forest which is put in a floor of high finish. 28 grown-up beech treeshave been planted in 12 slits cut into solid granite. To get the sensitive treespecies of beech thrive in such artificial condition, the sub terrain of theplaza was made into a research project resulting in a very large structuralsoil which also includes pumice, mycorrhiza and charcoal. The trees have beengrouped to create clearings in the forest with a number of seating serving associal spots. 16 meters up in the air, 1800 meters of steel wires equipped with2800 LED diodes create a digital sky in night time. The digital sky isprogrammed in 7 scenarios, including one for every new season.            |
