我们经常听说有不少初学英语的人一见到外国人就问:Where are you going?(你去哪里?), Have you eaten yourmeal(你吃过饭没有?) (You speak very good English), 你猜他怎么着, 他不是礼貌地答上一句 Thank you, 而是想起汉语中的一句客套话“哪里, 哪里”, 于是不慌不忙地用英语答道Where, where! 比如1997年的高考英语有这样一道交际英语题: —Do you think I could borrow your dictionary? —_______. A. Yes, you may borrow B. Yes, you could C. Yes, help yourself D. Yes, go on 此题应选 C。
1. Would you like...与 Do you like... —______ you like some coffee? —Yes, please. A. Do B. Will C. Would D. Can 此题应选C。 Do you like...? 如: —Do you like English? —Yes, very much. —Do you like summer? —Not really. 2. Would you like...? 如: —Would you like a cup of tea? —Yes, please. —Would you like to come with us? —Yes, I’d like to. Would you like the girl? 误:Would you like the life here? 误:Do you like some fruit? 误:Do you like a cigarette? (改正办法:将各句的Would改为Do, 或将Do改为Would)2. Nice to meet you. 与 Nice meeting you. —How do you do? ______. —How do you do? Welcome to our school. A. Nice to meet you B. Nice meeting you C. Nice to have met you D. Glad meeting you 此题应选A。 Nice to meet you. Glad to meet you. (=I’m glad to meet you. ) Pleased to meet you. (=I’m pleased to meet you. ) Nice to meet you. (=It’s nice to meet you. 如: —Hi, I’m Jim. —Hi, I’m John. Nice to meet you. 2. Nice meeting you. Nice to have met you. It is [was] nice to have met you. I’m glad to have met you. 如: —I must be off now. Nice meeting you. —Nice meeting you too. Bye-bye. 3. 严格说来, Nice to meet you之类的用于见面的场合, 而Nice meeting you. Nice to meet you.
3. 这里为何用Congratulations来答 —I’ve never found a better job. —______! A. Take it easy B. Keep up your courage C. Congratulations D. I’m sorry to hear it 此题应选 C。 I’ve never found a betterjob than this one. He had never spent a _____ day. A. more worry B. most worrying C. more worrying D. most worried b. How beautifully she sings! I have never heard _____. A. the better voice B. a good voice C. the best voice D. a better voice 答案:a. C b. D 2. 又如: —I have passed the driving test. —Congratulations. 4. 口语中的 work 与 do —How do you feel after taking the medicine? —Oh, it ______. I’d like 此题应选C。分析如下: 本题问句为 Would you mind...?(…… C。 I’d like to. 如: —How about playing tennis? —OK. I’d like to. —Will you come for a walk with me? —Yes, I’d like to. —Would you mind telling us your story? —No, I’d like to. 2. I’d like to. 中的动词like也可换成love, 其中的’d可以是would或should, 注意不要省略其后的to;若要加强语气, 可用副词 much, very much来修饰, 说成I’d (very) muchlike to.
I’m sure. / I’m afraid. 的否定式 —Can you play tennis with us now? —______. I’ll have to finish my homework first. A. I’m not sure B. I’m not afraid C. I’m sure not D. I’m afraid not 此题应选D。 I’m sure: (1) I’m sure. He will win, I’m sure. (2) I’m not sure. 如: —How old is he? —Perhaps 50, but I’m not sure. (3) be sure 后通常不能接代替一个句子的so, not: —Will he come? —Yes, I’m sure. / No, I’m not sure. (正) —Yes, I’m sure so. / No, I’m sure not. I’m afraid he is ill. 如: —Will he be late? —I’m afraid so (not). 比较:I’m not afraid. 我不怕(回答Are you afraid?)。
—______ A. Yes, isn’t it? B. No, it’s too cold. C. No, it’s too hot. D. No, you’re wrong. Lovely day [weather], isn’t it? Nice and warm today, isn’t it? Very hot today, isn’t it? Rather cold today, isn’t it? Terrible weather, isn’t it? Pretty warm, isn’t it? Isn’t it a lovely day? What a lovely day! 所以人们在回答 Lovely weather, isn’t it? Yes, (it is, )isn’t it? No, youare wrong. / No, it’s cold. / No, the weather is bad. 等。 26. 口语中否定疑问句的回答 —Can’t you go with them? —______. I’m too busy. A. Yes, I can B. No, I can C. Yes, I can’t D. (不, 我能来)与其后的I’m too busy(我太忙)相矛盾。 选项D正确, No, I can’t.
27. 如何回答道歉 —I’m sorry that I forgot to return your dictionary yesterday. —______. I don’t need it right now. A. It doesn’t matter B. It’s a pleasure C. Please don’t D. (2) congratulations是名词(通常用复数形式), 它可以单独使用(意为:祝贺你;祝贺祝贺), 也可在其后接介词短语来说明是因何事而祝贺或向谁祝贺(注意:接事时用介词on, 接人时用介词to)。如: Congratulations on your success. Congratulations to you, Mary. I wish youhappiness. / I hope you’ll be happy. 等。 3.
