The first two checks of one's credit scores each year are free, but there will be a 25 yuan ($4) charge for each subsequent check, the People's Bank of China said in a media briefing on Tuesday. The central bank launched a pilot online personal credit database (ipcrs.pbccrc.org.cn) in Jiangsu and Sichuan provinces and Chongqing city in March 2013. The database contains records of personal loans, credit cards, debt delinquency, tax payments and traffic violations. In October 2013, the database was expanded to six more areas: Beijing, Shandong, Liaoning, Hunan, Guangxi and Guangdong. The central bank said in the briefing that it plans to extend the database to cover the whole country by the end of 2014. The database provides a convenient option to check personal credit scores online, and is an important effort by the government to build a credit culture. Related News
