A woman who left 9 diamonds worth US$29,000 on a subway train in Shanghai on
June 6 eventually got them back after they were found in a rubbish bin.
The unidentified woman took Metro line 2 at Pudong International Airport
after arriving in the city on June 6.
She was carrying a black package containing 9 diamonds worth an estimated
US$29,000, xinmin.cn reported yesterday. She put the package under the seat. She
got off the subway at Guanglan Road Station, leaving the diamonds under the
seat. The woman realized her mistake after the train departed the station and
called police immediately.
Police and Metro employees didn't find the package on the train. The search
then shifted to the stations between Guanglan Road and the airport. Finally the
package, with the diamonds still in it, was found in a garbage can at Pudong
International Airport Station, the report said.
