A group of villagers fed up with the long walk to their local bus stop in
Luoyang, Henan province dug up the signs and moved them closer before the city
could hit the brakes, local media reported Wednesday.
The bus stop and info board for Route 84 was found moved 300 meters to the
west from its previous location at an intersection between two villages and
encased in cement on Tuesday morning.
The move has other commuters from nearby villages complaining as drivers only
make a stop at the info board.
"It's selfish! Favoring the minority at the cost of the majority!" an elderly
villager complained.
An anonymous villager was reported as saying the village head had a hand in
the stop's removal.
The official denied the accusation and speculated it was done by
villagers.
A bus company employee on Route 84 confirmed there had been no official
notice issue to move the board.
"Sometimes bus stops get moved this way in rural areas. It's actually
happened several times", said a employee of the Luoyang Public Transportation
Group.
