He dreamed of a tender night Permeated with misty moonlight Listening to the singing of the joyous frog And gazing at the center of pond There，alas，a new moon is found. He held the pond water in his hands Where his own moon smiles, and With the greatest care, he tiptoed back home Dreaming of the moon as his companion in the room The moon dripped between his fingers But his dream still lingers Up he looked at the sky Where the moon was smiling, with her beautiful eye The moon carried him into another dream and high in the sky, amid the stars, the moonlight beams but he was wrapped in an immense shadow of a woman, walking ahead of him, fast and slow wherever she goes, he has to follow He walked and walked till he could not move a step leaning against a tree, he went back into sleep in the warm shadow of the woman in black just like a baby, nestling in his mother’s lap Sweet sweet he dances in his dream the faint glows of the moonlight gleam out of the lap of the woman he awoke there stands a pretty girl in white, and in the moonlight her eyes glow “Who you are, and where are you to go?” “I am the one you sought long, long ago, and now I will follow you, wherever you go.” Slowly he stands up, gazing at the girl in white Yeah, she is right the one he’s dreamed of, day and night. With the swift gaits of the horse they rode Bounced across the meadow and into the wood “Where are you taking me, my man?” “Dear, I will carry you into our dream land.” Back they were to the pond The moon was hanging atop The chorus of the frogs was their band and into the pond they walked, hand in hand. In the night breeze the girl’s long hair was flying And the boy’s eyes were burnt with yearning in the center of the pond they were standing And between them, O the moon was dancing. |
