DNA Evidence Backs Up Man Saying He Was Raped by a 240-Pound Mother of Four

He went to a neighbor’s party, came home and passed out.

When he woke up, he said he found a 240-pound woman on top of him — raping him.

Late Thursday, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported that police now have DNA evidence tying 28-year-old Chantae Gilman to the sexual assault, which allegedly occurred more than a year ago in a west Seattle apartment complex.

Gilman, a mother of four who is currently pregnant, allegedly broke into the victim’s apartment in June 2013 and forced sex on the sleeping man.

The man told police he knew Gilman to be a drug user.

The New York Daily News noted Gilman’s long struggle with sobriety and pregnancy, citing her Facebook page.

“I’ve got 2 months sober and I’m 31 weeks pregnant,” Gilman apparently wrote on Facebook last month.

The case is remarkable, in part, because rape is typically not a male-victim, female-perpetrator crime.

“From a statistical standpoint, yes, it is atypical to have a female aggressor,” Detective Drew Fowler, with the Seattle Police Department, told KOMO-TV. “But we work to hold all people responsible for their actions.

As the Post-Intelligencer reported, the alleged victim said he was eventually able to work his way out from under Gilman during the rape last June.

With the new DNA evidence in hand, police have charged Gilman with second-degree rape, the Post-Intelligencer reported, though Gilman, when interviewed by police, claimed to have no recollection of the incident and said she was mentally ill.
