Things I’ll Tell My First Child 1.I’ll say, listen, kid, not everyone has to like you. 我会说，听着，孩子，世上没人应该喜欢你 Speak your mind when you know you’re right. Tell friends the truth even when they don’t want to hear it. Don’t just nod and “see both sides” and give pity laughs to people who make bad jokes. 你觉得有道理那就说出来。即使他们不想听也要告诉他们真相。不要只是低着头，“看两边”，给笑话讲得不好的人一个遗憾的笑。 2.I’ll say, work hard in school. 我会说，在学校要努力 Not so you can make money and not for the bragging rights, but because if you don’t, one day you’ll look back and wish you’d made yourself proud. 不是为了赚钱，不是为了炫耀，只是因为如果不这样，某天回顾自己人生的时候可以让自己自豪。 3.I’ll say, clean your room. 我会说，请整理好你的房间 I’ll say, you see this 6inch pile of dirty clothes next to my bed?
