4.我们要用以爱国主义为核心的民族精神和以改革创新为核心的时代精神振奋全民族的精气神。 We should boost the morale of the whole nation with a national spirit imbued with patriotism and the call of the times featuring reform and innovation.

The second goal is to turn China into a modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced and harmonious in 2049 when the People’s Republic of China marks its centenary.
28.世界上怕就怕“认真”二字。共产党最讲“认真”，只要我们动真格抓，就没有解决不了的问题。 Being earnest is the most effective approach in the world, and we the Communists are very earnest about doing everything. If we make earnest efforts, there is no problem we cannot resolve.
29.我们很需要接地气，接了地气才能培养对群众的感情。 We need to stay in close touch with the people so as to forge a close bond with them.

We should have the courage to crack the “hard nuts”, navigate uncharted waters and take on deep-seated problems that have built up over the years. We must not stop, even for a minute, in our pursuit of reform and opening-up.
32.和平犹如空气和阳光，受益而不觉，失之则难存。没有和平，发展就是无源之水、无本之木。 Peace, like air and sunshine, is hardly noticed when people are benefiting from it. But none of us can live without it. Without peace, development is out of the question, just like water without source and a tree without roots. |
