Having moved from Northern China to Hong Kong, the reserved Putonghua teacher Xiao (Meng Tingyi) is struggling to find her place in the flashy metropolis. The only thing getting her out of her apartment and onto the busy streets, is a series of dot--to--dot puzzles posing as street art, littered around Hong Kong’s subway stations and other landmarks. Xiao soon realizes that the puzzles are deeply woven into the city’s rapidly evolving culture and heritage, which results in an ever- increasing desire to find out who is behind her new-found obsession. DOT 2 DOT uses its two leads to explore the relationship between China and Hong Kong, including its tension, attraction, history and future uncertainties. Whilst being a poetic tale about two young professionals who fall in love over a distance, the film is mostly an unapologetic love letter to the urban jungle of Hong Kong. Showing off the metropolis in both its bombastic glamour and its hidden subtlety, the beautifully shot DOT 2 DOT is nothing less than a visual delight. Accolades:
