Here’s What Happens When You Drink 10 Cokes A Day For 30 DaysPosted by Natascha Bruhin George Prior conducted an interesting experiment recently when he decided to find out what would happen to his body if he were to drink 10 cans of Coke a day for 30 days. Obviously, we all know consuming too much sugar, like the amount that can be found in a pop drink, can be detrimental to your health, but Prior’s results just further reiterate the fact- and the proof is in his belly. In the span of one month, despite maintaining his usual diet and exercise routine, Prior gained 23 pounds. His body fat went from 9.4% to 15.3%. The World Health Organization recommends limiting your added sugar intake to 25-50 grams per day, which equals to 5-10% of your total energy intake per day. One can of Coke exceeds that recommended sugar intake with 39 grams of sugar. Since completing his challenge and cutting Coca-Cola from his diet, Prior has already lost most of the weight he gained in that one month span. “If I have to drink another Coke in 1,000 years, it would be one Coke too soon.” Still, even with all the awareness campaigns being made nowadays on the dangers of excessive sugar consumption, people are still consuming an unhealthy amount every day. In 2008, the average intake was 76.7 grams per day- which equals 19 teaspoons! Tell us: Do you consume more or less of the recommended added sugar intake per day? Which sugary treat do you have the most difficult time saying no to? |
