高考完形填空之高频近义词辨析
这类试题属于义近形异名词的辨析。其特点是四个选项都属于名词，词义相同或者相近。其主要考查考生在具体的语境中，对所给四个名词作出确切中文解释的同时 , 并对其细微差异作出准确判断的能力。下面列举一些容易混淆的名词：
(1)event, incident,
affair, matter
event 意为 " （尤指）重要事情，大事 ", 用在 in that event, in any
event 结构中的时候 , 可与 case 替换。
incident 意为 " 发生的事情 , 严重事件，暴力事件 ", 用于表示突发事件或偶然发生的事件。
affair 意为 " 公共事务，政治事务，事件 , 风流韵事 ", 如 :a love affair,
affairs of
state 。
matter 意为 " 事情 , 问题 , 事态，关乎……的事情 " 。如 :It is a matter of
time. 这只是个时间问题。
(2)force, strength, power,
energy
force,
strength, power, energy 都有 " 力 " 的意思。
force 强调力所产生的实际效果 , 如 : The law should remain in
force. 法律应当有效力。
strength 指 " 体力，力量，力气 ", 如 : He is a man of great
strength 。他是个大力士。
power 指 " 能力，控制 ", 着重行动所依据的能力或职权。 如 :
It ’ s beyond my
power. 它超出了我的职权。
energy 原是物理学上的术语 " 能量 ", 用于人时则指 " 精力 " 。如 : He worked with great
energy. 他精力充沛地工作。
(3)reward ， award
这两个词都可以用作名词和动词，作名词时，意义相近，但不是同义词。
作名词时 ， award 的意思是 " 奖品，奖金 " ，其意思与 prize 相似，两者都指因为作出杰出成就而受奖。如：
The
Olympic winner received a gold medal as an
award.
He won the

reward 作名词时，其意为 " 悬赏金，奖励，报酬 " 。如：
We will
offer a reward of ten thousand dollars for information about the
case.

用作动词时 ， award 的意思是 " 授予，奖励 " ； reward 则表示 " 奖赏，给以报酬 " 之意。如：

You should
reward them according to their
deserts. 你应该对他们论功行赏。
reward 也可以用于比喻义。如：

(4)path, lane,
drive, avenue, road, highway,
way
path 一般指小道、小径，特别是林间或田间小径，而且通常是由人走出来的，不是修筑的如：
The path
leads through the forest. 这条小路穿过森林。
lane 一般指两边有树篱或者墙的小道或巷子，也指宽阔街道上的车道。如：
He walked
along the country lane. 他走在乡间的小径上。
drive ，有时也用 driveway, 一般表示私人住宅前专为私人的车子铺设的车道，也指游览车在游览区行驶的小路。如：
The car
entered the gate and stopped at the end of the
drive. 车子进了大门，在车道的尽头停了下来。
avenue 指城市中宽阔的大街或者林荫道。如：
He is staying at a hotel on
Fifth Avenue. 他住在第五大街上的一家旅馆里。
road 指市区外车辆或马行走的道路。如：
The workers will have
completed the new roads by the end of this
year.
今年年底，工人们将要修筑好新的马路。
highway 指来往车辆多的公路。如：
A highway

way 和 road 的含义相近，常出现在某些习惯用语中。如：

(5)position,
status
position 位置 , 方位，地位，职位 , 职务。如：
The bed
used to be in this position. 床原来是放在这儿的。
He has a high position in
society. 他社会地位很高。
status 地位 , 身份，社会上层地位。如：

much over the years.
这些年妇女的社会地位没有多大改变。
He is

(6)habit ， custom ， practice
habit 侧重指个人的习惯。
custom 指社会或团体的风俗、习俗。
practice 通常指习俗、惯例、常规。如：

trade, bargain, deal
这些名词均含 " 贸易，交易 " 之意。
business 指包括售货、购货、换货在内的综合商业活动，方式可以是批发或零售。
commerce 多指大规模的买卖或易货关系。
trade 为普通用词，含义广。既可指某种具体的商业，又可指广泛的贸易。
bargain 多指买卖双方通过谈判、协商就商品质量、数量、价格等项达成协议所做的生意。
deal 为口语用词，指买卖双方经过交涉达成协议。
(9)posture ， gesture
posture 强调整个身体的姿势。如：
He stood
in a flamboyant posture with his hands on his
hips.
他双手叉腰以炫耀的姿态站在那里。
Good
posture will protect your
spine. 良好姿态会有助于保护你的脊椎骨。
gesture 主要指用于示意的手势或其他肢体动作。如：

(10)emotion ， feeling
emotion 意为 " 情绪，感情 " ，常指由于喜、怒、哀、乐等而产生的强烈感情，多指精神上的反应。如：

Love ， hatred ， joy ， fear and grief are
emotions. 爱、憎、喜、惧、悲是各种不同的感情。
feeling 指人生理上受到刺激而产生的某种感觉，如痛苦、饥饿等。如：

此外，还可引申为 " 同情 " 。如：
