在全球城市化越演越烈的今天,Caroline Brahme希望这款可以种上植物的渗水铺装能
够缓解热岛效应给人们带来的一系列不良影响。
铺路石一共四款,每款有不同的穿孔样式,最少的只有一个孔,最多的有8个孔。这
些铺装可以灵活的运用在城市路面,增加绿化和可渗透路面的面积。这款铺装也许可
以在世界范围内能适用。
Caroline Brahme希望为可渗水路面带来一种新思路,让绿色有机的融入进路面。在城
市化快速进程的今天,这样的思维值得重视。
Right now, the world is undergoing the largest wave of urban growth in history. In 2008,
for the first time, the majority of earth’s population lives in cities. When the cities grow
and get denser many green areas disappear. Too many impervious surfaces in the city
leads to problems with water handling, creates urban heat islands and decreased
health for the urban citizens.
There is a wish for an increased biodiversity in the city as well as building dense, green
and sustainable. The vegetation in the city helps with water hydration, cleaning the air,
taking care of CO2, reducing urban heat islands and providing more healthy people.
The main goal of my master thesis is to increase the quantity of green surface in the
city.
The result is a series of paving stones with integrated space for vegetation. With the
help of design, the plants become an accepted element on the urban impervious floor,
and will not be considered as weed. The series consists of four paving stones. Each
tile has different amounts of perforation; from 1 to 8 spaces where vegetation is
allowed to grow. As paving stones make up many of the cities’ impervious surfaces, the
product can be very flexibly integrated on all paved surfaces in the city. The quantity of
greenery on the paved urban floor can thereby easily be customized and increased
without taking a lot of extra space.

Cities today are often planned in a way where the green and grey surfaces are clearly
separated and rarely interacting. There are many impervious surfaces in the city that
aren’t worn and where vegetation starts growing spontaneously but is considered as
weed. These surfaces are often called urban wasteland. The paving stones are mainly
to be used on these urban wasteland surfaces in the city.
Investigations has mainly been carried out in Malm?, and the suggested vegetation
material is chosen to suit this area. But with small changes to the vegetation material
the product could be implemented and work well on any paved surface in the world.
With this project I am questioning the allowed places for greenery in the city. Pushing
the boarders for where it can be accepted or not, and aspiring on leading the way for a
new way of thinking when planning the many impervious surfaces in the city. Not
separating the green and the grey, but mixing them. Considering the rate of urban
growth in the world today, I think that this is of great importance both for the city and the
people within the city to function well in the future.
