WE SPEAK STUDENTEducation with a point of view. The Word on the StreetNot only are Shmoop's online courses Common Core aligned, but they also have electives and career readiness components and resources that our program must provide for our students. We feel like our students are better prepared to succeed at high school and beyond. Shmoop has allowed our program opportunities for student learning far beyond the typical box and traditional methods. Thinking outside the box is what Shmoop specializes in and they are very good at it. -Sam Brooks, VITAL Personal Learning Coordinator Putnam County School, Tennessee SNOOP SHMOOPOver 100,000 Courses, Test Prep Resources, and Learning Guides, armed with gallons of academic WD-40 to make learning easy and fun.Study GuidesFree resources to help you review all your favorite subjects. All that plus a super-powered Labradoodle makes for a trustworthy and authoritative source that won't put you to sleep. Case StudiesAt Indio High School, Shmoop has been crucial in helping students prepare for the ACT exam. They walk into the exam with the confidence that they can be successful. Part of this is because students can work at their own pace, both at school and at home. The Shmoop program also gives them a better sense of the exam through the drills and practice exams—the explanations of why one answer choice was right and the others were wrong helped them gain a stronger understanding of what exactly the ACT exam is looking for. Asst. Principal Charles Mazet, I teach 8th grade Social Studies. My classes LOVE your videos, and I've turned a lot of teachers onto Shmoop! I would like to see videos on Early industry, Child Labor, Inventions, Manifest Destiny, Monroe Doctrine, and Immigration. That's a Tall Order, but my students always ask, 'Can we Shmoop today?' I like to use videos, student engagement is so high with yours, and the content is correct, educational, entertaining, and terrific! Kathleen Desimone, 'Shmoop,' you have been my savior for the past four years. Your summaries are detailed and the bullet points are easy to read and understand versus a paragraph format. Your writers are incredible. Their writing is direct and simple with a touch of much needed humor for those dry books teachers force children to read. I occasionally chuckle in front of my computer (or embarrassingly at the school library) when reading a summary about a chapter that I well, was just a tad too lazy to read. The humor is subtle but appropriate and I smile every time I read a passage. Never stop with this sarcastic writing, It. Is. Incredible. I will need you in college next year, to help me with unnecessary reading projects but most of all for that small amount of laughter every tired and overwhelmed student needs. Dina Savva, |
