悉陀医学介绍

悉陀医学(Siddha Medicine)是源自印度南部地区的传统医学体系,该医学体系的传承者被称为“悉陀”(Siddhars),文献记载回溯到1000多年前。悉陀医学所运用的知识、技术及实践基于理论、信仰、原著民的经验及保持健康的文化。

悉陀医学被划分为内科医学及外科医学。在外科医学中,悉陀疗法典籍中提到32种不同的疗法,其中瓦玛(Varma刺激病灶)是由悉陀医师创造的一种特殊的武术形式。

人体有10个重要穴位,应每天对其进行刺激,以获得健康的生活。这些穴位被称为瓦玛穴位。我们祖先知道这些瓦玛穴位的重要性,将此理念以文化及传统的方式进行传播,因此它被多数印度人所遵循。

Introduction

Siddha Medicine is the traditional system of Medicine having its origin from the southern peninsular region of India. The promoters of this system of medicine were called “Siddhars”. The literature evidence dates back more than 1000 years. Siddha medicine uses the knowledge, skills and practices based on theories, beliefs and experiences indigenous to its people and culture, for maintenance of health.


Varma in Siddha medicine

Siddha Medicine is classified as Internal Medicines (Aga Marundu 32) and External medicines (Pura marundu 32). In external medicines, thirty two different therapies were mentioned in the texts of Theraiyar siddhar and among them Varma(stimulation of vital points) is a special type of martial art formulated by Siddhars.


Varma and Indian culture

There are 10 important points in the body which should be stimulated daily to live ahealthy life. These points were called Varma points. Our ancestors knew the importance of these varma points and introduced the idea in the form of cultureand traditions, so that it is followed by everyone.

1. Kunkuma pottu

Varma point: Thilartha Kaalam
Therapeutic effect: Increases memory


2. Ear studs

Varma point: Sevikuttri, Kurundu kuttri, Poigaikaalam
Therapeutic effect: Cures Vertigo, Relieves Tiredness.


3. Anjanam

Varma point: Natchattira kaalam ,Mandira kaalam
Therapeutic effect: Prevents squint, Night blindness,Cures Insomnia


4. Nose studs

Varma point: Minvetti varmam,Naasivarmam
Therapeutic effect: Improves smell sense , Avoids recurrent sneezing


5. Necklace

Varma points:Nadukkuvarmam , Thummikkaalam

Therapeutic effect:RegulatesThyroid glands, Prevents Respiratory diseases.


6. Bangles

Varma point:Manibandhavarmam

Therapeutic effect:PreventsCervical pain, Frozen shoulde


7. Oddiyaanam(waist belt)

Varma point: Mundal varmam,Atthi surukki varmam

Therapeutic effect: Gives strength to legs,Increases lubrication to leg joints.


8. Rings

Varma point: Modira varmam (Mozhi pirazgai)
Therapeutic effect: Provides strength to nerves of the hands


9. Kolusu

Varma point: Kudhikaal varmam, Mudichi varmam
Therapeutic effect: Gives strength to Hips, Alleviates Sciatica


10. Metti

Varma point : Pisini varmam (sanni varmam)
Therapeutic effect: Strength to Nerves of foot, Strengthens muscles of Neck.
