Hazards of Using Compressed Air

One of the biggest concerns with compressed air is that many employees do not think of it as hazardous. IT CAN BE if used incorrectly!

There are generally four types of hazards ：

1、Air Pressure 空气压力

2、Flying particles飞起的颗粒

3、Noise噪声

4、Physical Hazards物理伤害

Air Pressure Hazards气压危害

1、Compressed air penetrating the skin can cause hemorrhaging and pain.

压缩空气吹在皮肤可引起出血和疼痛

2、High pressured air entering the body through cuts in the skin could form bubbles in the bloodstream. These bubbles can cause an “Air Embolism” which can be serious, even fatal if a bubble reaches the lungs or the heart.

高压的气体从伤口进入身体可以使血液产生气泡,这将很严重,甚至损伤肺和心脏

3、Compressed air blown into the ear can rupture an eardrum.

压缩空气进入耳朵会使耳膜破裂

4、Compressed air blown into the eye can blow an eye out of its socket.

压缩空气进入眼睛可使眼球吹掉

5、Additionally, high pressured air blown into the mouth or nose can cause damage to tissues or internal organs.

另外,高压的空气进入嘴和鼻子会破坏其组织和内脏

Flying Particles Hazards

Flying particles can cause cuts and bruises.
飞起的碎粒可能会割伤或擦伤人体

Chips and other particles could become projectiles

长形条状和其它的颗粒会飞射出去,对个人和其它人造成伤割

Dust and other airborne particles can enter the eyes

灰尘和现场纤维会进入眼睛

Noise

Noise levels can reach 120 decibels

压缩空气的噪声可以达到120分贝

Physical Hazards 物理伤割

There is a whipping potential if air hose becomes disconnected at hose coupling. A whipping hose can cause serious injuries.软管没有固定好时或使用时脱手,乱飞的管子会给我们造成伤害

Pressure backlash can occur if air is not shut off before attempting to disconnect air hose from air line

在拆除空气管路时,如果忘记关掉气源,后冲的压力会造成伤害

Additional Physical Hazard

An air hose on the floor presents a tripping hazard.

软管在地板上会造成绊倒危险

Self-storing, recoiling air hoses that can be suspended above workstations are recommended.

不用时将软管缠绕在工作点的上方

A short chain attached to the hose and to the tool's housing will keep it from whipping about if it should accidentally become disconnected.

使用短的链条把软管固定,防止意外脱落造成伤害

Also, protect the hose from sharp objects.

同时要注意软管过于锋利

Compressed Air Safety Rules

Only trained employees may use compressed air

对有可能使用到压缩空气的员工心需进行此培训

Compressed air must only be used for it’s intended purpose

压缩空气的使用必须是用于某项使用目的

Never use compressed air to:

Clean off clothing or work areas.(Use other cleaning methods instead such as vacuuming or sweeping)

清洁身上灰尘或工作场所

Dry off wet items 烘干

Fire projectiles 助燃

Warn others in the immediate area that you will be using compressed air

Additional Rules

Never point an air gun at another person

不能用气枪指向其它人

Always shut off the air before attempting to disconnect the air hose from the line

在拆装软管前确保关闭气源

Chock the wheels of portable air compressors to prevent the equipment from moving

在使用便携式空压机时,为了防止设备滑动要锁好轮子.

The air pressure must be turned off and the line pressure released before disconnecting the hose or changing pneumatic tools.

在拔掉软管或气枪时一定要关闭气源

Required Personal Protective Equipment

Always wear safety glasses, face shields or goggles as appropriate when using compressed air

在使用压缩空气时根据实际情况要带护目镜和防护面罩

Hearing protection must also be worn when operating an air compressor

在使用压缩空气时必须做好听力保护

Compressed Air Control Measures

If compressed air must be used for cleaning (such as blowing out chips from a machine), it must be regulated to lower than 30 psi or equipped with diffuser nozzles to provide less pressure

如果压缩空气用于清扫时,必须保证压力低于30磅/平方英寸或者使用扩散式喷嘴用来减小压力

Guns shall have pressure relief valves fitted at all stations

每个气枪站点都应装有安全阀

Guns should have safety relief nozzles/tips

气枪应装有安全喷嘴
