如果有机会可以选择，是去一家中小型专业化公司还是是一家知名跨国公司工作比较好？哪一种经历更易打动雇主？

我非常支持大家选择较小或刚创业公司的工作机会。在过往的面试中，我经常告诉人们：“中国是创业家的摇篮。”所以，如果你想学习如何运作公司，中国是个不错的选择。这里有数不清的机遇，你可以成为其中一份子，可以去闯荡，去创造。

当然，知名跨国公司也能提供很好的机遇和福利，不过许多中小公司可以为你的发展提供更多诱人的机会，尤其是，你可以接触到比目前职位更多的工作。中小公司大都处于“起飞”阶段，拥有不错的商业模式和潜在的升值空间，但是往往缺乏能让他们持续“飞行”的多元商业动力。

关于哪种经历对雇主来说更有吸引力，我相信如果你与效力过优秀小公司的人们交流过，他们大部分人一定令你印象深刻。当你在一个成熟的大公司，你成功的主要原因是当好了一颗“螺丝钉”而不是你自身的能力。但是，如果你在一个小公司，无论你取得什么成就，主因就在于你的推动,能力与主动。而且，你涉足核心业务,提供影响力的机会也将更多，发挥的作用也越大。

所以，如果你是实干派，积极主动，做事独立，乐于解决问题，或者你喜欢灵活多变的工作环境，你可以去中小公司发展。相信我，选择了优秀的小公司将对你职业发展的方方面面起到积极作用，甚至也能助你在知名高管面前脱颖而出。

How would you view an opportunity in a professional, small- to mid-size firm compared to an opportunity in a well-known multinational company? Which experience will be viewed as more impressive by top employers?

Wang & Li Career Expert Answer:

I’m a huge supporter of people who work in smaller companies or start-up opportunities. In presentations and interviews I give, I’m always saying that China is the mother of all entrepreneurial markets. So if you’re someone who likes getting hands on or wants to learn how to run a business, then this is a great place to do it. There are just so many interesting opportunities to be a part of here to build and create things.

Of course, while opportunities in multinational companies also offer great opportunities and career benefits, many small- and mid-size companies offer attractive opportunities and more chances for you to build and run things. Typically, in such companies, there’s much more to do than they can handle at their stage of development. Many have promising, high potential business models and/or high growth prospects. But they’re short on having enough talent to help them drive and grow many aspects of their business.

Regarding which experience is more impressive to employer, when you talk to people who have been part of successful situations in smaller companies, I can tell you that many of them really impress you. In a large, mature company situation, your success can largely be a result of being part of a big, well-run machine, and not necessarily because of your own capabilities. But in a smaller, less established company situation, whatever results and achievements a person has accomplished, you know they’re mainly a result of the person’s drive, capability and initiative. And in general, your opportunities to get more involved in key areas of the business and have a major impact are much greater.

So if you’re someone who is hands on, proactive, able to work independently, and solution-oriented, or if you like being part of a situation that’s more nimble and flexible, then you should explore opportunities in a smaller company. Trust me, the right one can be very rewarding and beneficial to your career in many ways, including by helping you stand out to top employers.
