The U.S., a country with ten times our population, is only taking in 10,000 Syrian refugees and we want to take in 25,000? Aside from the security risks, we still have to deal with what Yann Martel referred to as 'Hotel Canada', the phenomenon of various immigrant groups who cluster together and don't assimilate. We need the cultural homogeneity that the U.S. has always striven for as multiculturalism weakens any nation in the long run.

At what point does OUR safety become a priority. If we have learned nothing from the recent tragedy in Paris, let us at least acknowledge the fact, that in payment for opening the border and welcoming the refugees, they have unknowingly allowed terrorists in and as a result lost too many innocent lives. Members of Isis are everywhere. Do we really need to extend an invitation for more of them to come here? Where are we going to go when we become the refugees of our own country? I'm not saying don't help them. I'm saying use common sense, protect us and ensure that we don't have to live in fear in our own country. Send the help to their homeland. Things will never change if change does not begin at the source. We have rights. You were elected by the people of Canada. It is your responsibility to listen to us. You have a moral and legal obligation to think of us first and do what is best and safest for us.

Dear Mr. Prime Minister,Ramming twenty-five thousand refugees through the system is not the way to start off on your leadership. We have plenty of past examples of so called new Canadian citizens giving our country more than a 'black eye' and dragging our Maple Leaf through the mud on the main stream medias world stage. I am so fed up with that. Our immigration system needs a massive overhaul and under a much, much, bigger magnifying glass and a hell of a lot more scrutiny. This is what needs to be done NOW before we become Mexico North.Lets deal with the current groups of said Canadians that are 'who's kidding who' anything but, before we introduce thousands of more exponential problems into the system.Canada's current 'open door' policies, our lax regulations of same and its reputation of a very easy country to get into and become a citizen of needs to change period. We need to become the most difficult nation and country to gain, travel to, award work visa's, student visa's let alone award citizenship within. This country deserves that respect does it not? In turn should demand that respect. No more revolving door, come one, come all policy... sorry, its a very different world out there. You want the respect from other world leaders and nations, and its people this is how you do it, this is where it needs to start.Respect equals leadership equals tenure equals votes equals longevity.Respectfully yours,A long term Canadian Citizen.

With them set to arrive in approx. 45 days, there isn't enough time to do a proper check on each individual prior to entry. Given the events in Paris there is just too much of a risk allowing a less than desirable person to slip into the country. Additionally, the cost of the relocation is not something that Canadian's should have to pay for.

I chose to sign this petition not only due to the potential hazards of rushing the screening process of refugees coming to Canada but also because the money spent here could be used to house and feed the the less fortunate across Canada. Our own people (Canadian citizens) should be our first priority. Interestingly Justin Trudeau has pledged to help alleviate the suffering the war has caused with an immediate $100 million contribution to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) working in Syria and neighbouring countries, as well as $100 million to speed up refugee processing as well as sponsorship and settlement services in Canada! That's over 200 million dollars that could have been spent on Canadians! And bettering our society.

Mr Trudeau is being extremely naive. He should take the lead from the more experienced and qualified leaders of the world who are beginning to view this refugee situation as a serious threat to the liberty and security of the rest of the world. It is impossible (by conventional Canadian immigration standards to investigate and process refugees within a few weeks. When traditionally, a refugee application for a single individual has taken upto to two years to effectively investigate and process, how on earth are we expected to believe that 25,000 refugees (from a war torn jurisdiction with potentially questionable affiliations and loyalties to the muslim cause) can be thoroughly investigated and processed before Christmas! As thousands of conventional immigrants can tell you, it is even impossible to have a normal sponsorship application from qualified individuals from safe Westren jurisdictions, processed within such a short time frame.Furthermore, we in the lower mainland cannot even address the issue of housing our own homeless (despite the protracted 4 years plus of promises by our Mayor), so how can we expect to accomodate 3000 !This is a dangerous move that is likely to change the lives of Canadians for ever. Even looking beyond the immediate threat of potential terrorists amidst these refugees, we are fostering an instant ghetto culture that will likely have very unpleasant repurcussions to our social structure. If anything, history has taught us that immigration only works when the numbers of immigrants are controlled and allowed to assimilate into the recipient country overtime. The mass displacement and accomodation of what currently amounts to huge numbers, has the potential to undermine the very fabric of our society and ahve a devastating effect on our lifestyle. Time to wake up and smell the coffee Mr Trudeau, you are no longer a drama school teacher and can't act your way out of this one. Otherwise, put your money where your mouth is and take in at least three or four randomnly processed refugees into your own home and have your own family integrate them! Remember, we voted for you, but we didn't vote for this.

Our politicians should be looking for the health and welfare of the Canadians wish we are in desperate need of, and to take better care of our seniors before bringing more immigrants in Canada. It was said on the news the other day, ' today's refugee is tomorrow's terrorists'. This is why Canadians are scared to let anybody in Canada.

These people should stay in their own country where they can build a future for themselves. Why do we need to carry their burden??? They were brought up oppressed with their religion and they will bring that with them. They are angry, revengeful and opportunistic. We need to worry about our own children and their future NOT theirs!!! Syrian conflict started years ago, why are these people endlessly having more children when they supposedly have no means to support themselves and live in an unlivable, unsafe environment??? What does that tell us? We, here wait until all stars are aligned to have a child while those people keep popping one after another into the war zone??? Let them settle their own mess and care for those kids they keep bringing into the world! Can't we learn from other's mistakes? Look at France! When is the world going to learn? This has NOTHING to do with racism or religious hatred...this is pure logic! We, Canadians also have the right to preserve our homes and safety!!!

Any Refugee coming to Canada should be vetted for the safety of Canadians and their families. I will suggest that the new PM and his Cabinet use the following procedure:The vetting process(1)takes two years(2)in-person interviews and supporting documents (3) their experience of conflict cross-checked against intelligenceYou can take the whole Syrian pop (22 million) into Canada but follow the right procedure so that Canadian would feel safe and secured. Just my humble opinion. Thanks

This country needs to help the people already living in it, by investing in OUR healthcare system for example, or providing better social assistance to those who truly need it. Providing aid is a sensitive subject but the screening needed to resettle TRUE refugees is not being done, as a result people will inevitably suffer because of it. I was once an immigrant also but I worked towards getting my Canadian citizenship. I adopted the Canadian culture as if it were my own. I pay my taxes and refuse to give hand outs to people that will eventually abuse our already soft Canadian system.

I married a South Korean lady a few years back. She brought with her 2 children from a previous marriage. To get these 3 people permanent residence we had to go through a medical check, security check and pay $5000 in fees. I am a born in Canada citizen. This process took 18 months to complete for a woman and 2 young children. I did not see anyone give me housing, food or any financial goodies. Why are we fast tracking mostly healthy young, strong men that do not accept our ways and culture. This is a major recipe for disaster.

Please put the safety of my family and fellow Canadians first. You have the best of security that Canada has to offer now that you are Prime Minister, average Canadians will be at the mercy of the decisions you make. You need to take the time to screen these refugees. Don't take this beautiful country for granted--do the right thing. Be compassionate to our disadvantage citizens, we have homeless people in Canada and many unemployed because of the oil prices. This is a very important decision. If terrorist get into Canada through this reckless accelerated refugee program, the safety of our country will be put at risk, and you alone will be held accountable.

They should not be resettled in any country, they should be sent back to their own country when the conflict in their country is resolved. If we were to resettle people from every part of the world that there's a conflict going on, we would run of space in no time. I believe most of them are using their conflict as an excuse to immigrate and it seems they have means to pay their way through. Real refuges are in camps in neighboring countries. I believe most of these people are part of the problem. They fought there, probably committed the same atrocities, and now that they are loosing, they want us to save them. They are just as bad as the ones they are running from. Most of them are of fighting age. Be aware of these kind of people that bribe their way through. We need real applicants.

We need to look after our own first, before rushing to bring strangers to Canada

My daughter, my grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin have all been raped by different unrelated men. 'Refugees' in europe are being televised treating women violently and refusing food that is not good enough for men and should be fed to dogs and women. My daughter is still recovering and afraid that our government might let in volent men who disregard women. Canadian young women deserve to feel safe. Please don't put us in a position where sexual offences are a risk.
