Dear Toastmasters and fellow guests,
This is Vivis. I am an administrative medical staff in this cancer center. About 3 months ago, I got a promotion to become the girlfriend of a doctor in this hospital. After that, many of my friendscame to me and said: “Vivis, how lucky you are. Your boyfriend is a doctor. Youfinally can have someone who takes care of you. You know, a doctor should bevery good at taking care of people.” At that time, I felt I was very lucky. However,it takes three months to prove that, all my friends’ saying is just theirillusion. I find out – only the strongest girl can be a doctor’s lady. Here,strongest does not only mean that the girl needs to be physically strong, butalso means that she needs to be psychologically strong. She needs to have apositive, healthy attitude with her beloved.
First of all, doctors are really busy. Theyhave to work from Monday to Sunday, 7 days a week. Do you know the job titlefor an entry level doctor in the hospital? Like Aaron’s job title, who knows? Pleaseraise your hand… Yes, he is called resident doctor, which means he is theresident living in the hospital. He needs to spend almost all of his time workingfor the patients. Therefore, the story always happens in this way. At the endof the day when I almost finished my work, I made a phone call to him: “Boss,would like to go outside to eat?” The answers were always like: “sweet heart, Ineed to complete my diagnose report tonight. How about we go to the canteen toeat?” Therefore, we went to the canteen, just the place next to this classroom,enjoying the employee benefit which the hospital offers to the overtimeworkers. After a nice dinner in canteen, I accompanied this overtime worker tohis department, sat next to him and looked at him working on his reports. Formany times, this poor worker has to work very late so I have to go home by myself.Now I am very strong enough to walk at night on a street without people. Nowyou can see how busy a doctor is. He will take care of hispatient first, and then take care of his lady.
Second, a doctor’s emotion is like theprice in the stock market. It is so fluctuating and unpredictable. Sometimes hecan be very happy, but sometimes he can be very unhappy. Because doctor’s workis so related to life, and it does not allow any mistakes, if the work isoverload for him, he will be stressful and goes to you with bad temper. One ofmy friends told me that, her husband did not talk to her for one week becauseone of his patients died in his surgery. She felt that week was her hardesttime she ever had at home. Therefore, being his girlfriend is like being astock investor, when he is happy, just like your stock price goes high, you alsofeel very happy; when he is unhappy and does not say a word, like the stockprice goes down, you feel depressed. Therefore your mind must be very strongenough to accept his emotional changes.
Now you know that doctor is very busy withunpredictable emotions. But these are not always the cases. I would like totell you the fact: the male doctors are always popular among nurses. I was sosad to find the proportion between males and females in this hospital is 1:3,which means that, the girls, only one out of three can get the chance to datewith a male doctor. And according to my research, I found most of the nurseswould like to have a doctor as her boyfriend. So I would like to ask, Solution,do you feel the nurses in your department are very willing to talk to you? (Solution:Yes.) How about Gerald? Do you feel the nurses in your department are verywilling to talk to you? (Gerald: No!) Okay, I know the answer from the bottomof your heart is yes. J
In conclusion, as a doctor’s lady, the girlneeds to be strong enough to take care of herself, to tolerate his emotionalchanges, and clam down when she sees a beautiful nurse or technician chattingwith her doctor. After hearing my speech, some girls in this classroom maythink that the doctor is the last man in the world she would like to marry. But girls, please go back to your original thoughts,just think about why you choose a doctor? Vivis always believe that: the mostsexy and charming moment for a doctor is when he is helping the patients. Weadmire the doctors because they are saving people’s lives. I feel proud of himbecause he is responsible for people’s lives, and contribute himself to helppeople fight against cancer. Even though he does not have too much time for me,we still can have romantic date in the hospital. Even though the relationshipneeds more consideration and determination, but for you, I am ready to be yourstrong lady. |
