20. Bed in Summer                            夏天睡觉

In winter, I get up at night                   冬天我起床时天还不亮，

And dress by yellow candle light.             穿衣得看着昏黄的烛光。

In summer, quite the other way,              夏天里情况则完全相反，

I have to go to bed by day.                  天没黑我就不得不上床。

To have to go to bed and see                  看得见鸟儿仍在树间跳下跳上，

The birds still hopping on the tree,            听得见大人们的脚步声声，

Or hear the grown-up people’s feet            经过我身旁仍在街上回响。

Still going past me in the street.             你难道不觉得过于勉强，

And does it not  seem hard to you,          天空还那样地蔚蓝明亮，

 When all the sky is clear and blue,         而我又如此地想玩，

And I should like so much to play,          却非要在大白天就上床？

21. Day’s End                     夜晚

It’s night outside,              外面已是夜晚，

I see the moon.                我见到了月光。

The day’s  over                一天结束了，

Much too soon.               过得太匆忙。

The whole world’s quiet-       万籁俱寂-

Not a peep.                  没有鼠雀声响。

It’s time for me              这正是我

To go to sleep.               睡觉好时光。

           （一）

What language is this, O, sea?             “海水呀，你说的是什么？”

The language of eternal question.          “是永恒的疑问。”

What language is your answer, O, sky?      “天空呀，你回答的话是什么？”

The language of eternal silence.            “是永恒的沉默。”

We come nearest to the great when we are great in humility.

当我们是大为谦卑的时候，便是我们最接近伟大的时候。

Moon, for what do you wait?                “月儿呀，你在等候什么神末呢？”

To salute the sun for whom I must make way.   “向我将让位给他的太阳致敬。”

We read the world wrong and say that it deceives us.  我们把世界读错了，反说它欺骗我们。

Let life be beautiful like summer flowers, and death like autumn leaves.  使生如夏花之绚烂，死如秋叶之静美。

Once we dreamt that we were strangers. We woke up to find we were dear to each other.

23. Dream                                        梦

Upon a dream I sleep at night                  深夜沉睡入梦乡

With the pillows by my side                   两只枕头伴身旁

Into new worlds I always fly                   踏入美梦新世界                             

Under sea, over sky                          我总在飞翔

Speeding, soaring, gaining height               畅游海底，掠过苍穹

Over mountains, faster flight                  而又高至巅峰

Into the great outsiders                             更快飞入群山

I soar                                    飞进野外大自然

Faster than any one before                    我在飞翔

No problems, sickness ,anything               快过以往任何人

That the world may  ever bring               无忧无虑无烦恼

To be away                               疾病痛苦不见了

From all dismay                           告别所有忧伤

Into the world of dreams                    飞进梦的旅乡

24. The Guarded Wound                碰不得的伤口

Were lighter touch              它比花瓣

Than petal of flower resting       落在草上还轻，

On grass, oh still too heavy it      它还是太沉啊太沉，
