Boy bear/Panda in a Fair Isle sweater

Boybearcover

This listing is for an extensive PDF file which contains full instructions for knitting and finishing off a little knitted bear  boy with a Fair Isle sweater and shorts. The pattern includes extra designs so you can make a Panda, Polar bear or brown bear. Once paid for it is available for you to instantly download.

The file is 19 pages long and contains over 60 detailed step-by-step photographs along with full pattern instructions and tips for stuffing, seaming and finishing neatly.

The bear pattern is for knitting flat on two needles and all pieces are seamed afterwards. The sweater is worked in the round from the shoulders downwards but can be worked flat if you prefer. Also included is a simpler striped sweater. Please note that this project is not a quick or simple knit. It takes me around 14 hours to make and finish each of the animals that I make and just under half of that time is spent on the finishing off. There are lots of separate pieces which require seaming and sewing and if you are looking for something fast and easy you would probably be better off finding a different pattern. That said this PDF file will give you all of the information and techniques that you need to knit the little bear pictured.

I've included instructions for two different sweater options - the first has a Fair Isle pattern but for those who don't like stranded knitting there is a simpler version in stripes.

Price: £4.00

knitting pattern for a hedgehog pincushion

Hedgie

This quick and simple 2 page pattern is great for using up oddments of leftover yarn and can be used as a pincushion or a toy. It is knitted flat on straight needles and seamed. You can use any oddments and just need to match your needle size accordingly, for example I'd use 3.75mm needles with Aran weight, 3.25 / 3mm for DK weight and 2.75 / 2.25 mm for 4 ply (use a thinner needle size than recommended on the ball band in order to give a good finish after firmly stuffing.

You can mix yarn weights but it is better to use a thicker yarn for the body and a thinner one for the face and feet. If you don't have a tweed yarn you could try mixing 2 contrasting strands of leftover yarn to give a tweed effect. You'll need approx 12m (14yds) for the main colour, a small amount for the face and feet, and a small amount of black yarn for the eyes and nose.

knitting pattern for a bunny egg cosy

Cosy
This is a 5 page pattern for a little knitted egg cosy and is suitable for intermediate knitting skills. I knit it in cotton simply so that it can be easily washed and use 4ply/fingering weight/5ply. It's quite good for using up small amounts of yarn that you might not have another use for. It is knitted flat on straight needles and seamed. Finished size: approx 12cm (5 inches) from base to ear tip and it will fit over a large egg or a chocolate one if you prefer.

knitting pattern for a cupcake pincushion

Cakey
This 4 page pattern is suitable for intermediate knitting skills, though if you’re not keen on seaming you might find that this pattern is not for you. It is knitted flat in two pieces so there are a couple of seams and a bit of sewing up to construct it. I’ve described exactly how I pick up stitches and close seams and included detailed pictures which help to illustrate this clearly.

Price: £2.25
