7月25日北京，在由曼彻斯特中国论坛 (Manchester China Forum) 、曼彻斯特投资发展署、曼彻斯特推广署于北辰洲际酒店举办的曼彻斯特高层赛前商务会议上 (PreMatch Business Reception)，来宾为观众介绍了这个集“工业革命发源地”、“金融中心”、“北英格兰门户”、“足球圣地”、“欧洲科学城市”、“精英教育”等诸多耀眼标签于一身的著名城市。
曼彻斯特市政厅行政长官霍华德勋爵 (Sir Howard Bernstein) 、英国驻华大使吴百纳等特邀出席并发言。除主会场外，本次商务会议的3场主题分会场，分别重点推介了曼彻斯特在“城市改造及体育”、“科技创新”和“旅游经济”3方面的众多优势。来自中英两国投资、贸易、体育、旅游、科技以及媒体等领域的200位嘉宾出席会议。
会议结束后，曼彻斯特市政厅行政长官 霍华德勋爵接受了CCTV记者的专访，他表示：
“ 脱离欧盟并不是曼彻斯特人所希望看到的，也不是曼彻斯特各行业的领袖所期待的。但是既然它已成定局，我们需要做的就是思考怎样接受现实，寻找方法进一步保持城市活力，创造投资机遇。除了大家熟悉的足球以外，曼彻斯特的科技研究、创新发明、私人住宅以及商务地产都充满机遇。”
'Brexit is not something that the people of Manchester or the leadership of Manchester had wanted. But it's happened. What we've got to do is ensure that there is a real drive within the city to create major investment opportunities. Football is obviously one opportunity, but there's science, there's innovation, there's residential and commercial properties,' said Sir Howard Bernstein, chief executive of the Manchester City Council.

戴德梁行发布《中国对外投资市场报告》显示，2016年前五个月，中国海外房地产投资延续了快速增长的态势，来自中国投资者的170亿美元资本涌入跨境房地产市场。相比于2015年257.34亿美元的海外房地产投资总额，今年前五个月的投资额已达到去年投资总额的65.6%，成为世界第二大跨境房地产投资的来源，仅次于美国的190亿美元。
房地产是投资者眼中的最大魅力之一。在本次会议的“城市改造及体育”分会场上，该领域演讲嘉宾表示：曼彻斯特近年来因其房地产升值，已成为全球“投资新宠”。居民住宅已成为伦敦的强力竞争对手。即使“脱欧”动摇了部分投资者的信心，2016年曼城的平均房价仍然增长了5.5个百分点。嘉宾还表示，纵使英镑汇率没有下降，现在仍然是投资曼城房地产的极佳时期。
Property is a particular concern. Real estate experts at the event said Chinese interest in homes in Manchester has already made housing in the city a rival to pricier London. Even as Brexit shakes confidence, average house prices are set to increase 5.5 percent in 2016. Experts say even if prices are not falling, now might still be a good time to buy.
足球作为分会场的另一亮点，嘉宾带领与会者回顾了曼城足球同两家中国公司签订的投资合约：华人文化控股集团(CMC)和中信资本联合投资4亿美元，占有城市足球集团13%的股份。在中国力量的帮助下，曼城足球俱乐部今后毋庸置疑将会加大对中国市场的关注。蓝月亮与中国球迷的距离也会变得更紧密。
Manchester City Football Club have just received around 400 million U.S. dollars-worth of investment from two Chinese companies. The Man City Group now has a Chiness board member, which according to officials, is helping the club make inroads into China.
仲量联行国际资本集团中国区总监夏飏飏表示：
“ 我认为，目前国际投资者的优势就是汇率。我们发现，在过去的两个月内，中国投资者可以利用11%的汇率差价，购买同一项商务地产。所以简单来说，在英国脱离欧盟之后，投资者反而能以比脱欧之前便宜11%的价格，投资同一个项目。 ”
'I think the opportunities we've seen for international investors is the currency. What we've seen especially for Chinese investors over the past one to two months, is that there's an 11 percent difference in currency, and therefore, if I'm looking at the same asset, it'd be 11 percent cheaper to buy today as compared to pre-Brexit,' said Darren Xia, head of the international capital group for China at Jones Lang Lasalle.
