Today's amazing person is Benny Lewis, the creator of Fluent In 3 Months, one of the most influential language learning blogs on the web. He's also the author of the book Fluent In 3 Months, in which he explains his system for learning any language within 3 months. 今天要介绍的这个很了不起的人物，叫做本尼·路易斯，网络上最有影响力的语言学习博客之一——“三个月流利说”的创始人，也是同名书籍《三个月流利说》的作者，介绍了他一套他的关于如何在三个月内学好一门新的语言的体系。
Benny is either conversational or fluent in over 10 different languages. His life definitely inspires me to want to learn more languages! One of the key ideas of his system is that when you first start learning a language, you need to start speaking immediately! Don't be afraid of making mistakes, just jump in! 本尼精通和能交流使用的语言加起来达10种以上。他无疑地激励了我，想要学习更多的外语！他的体系中提到，学习一门新的语言的关键就是——不要怕犯错，尽快开口说出来！
One of his favorite ways to practice new languages is by chatting with native speakers on Skype. He's got so many language partners that he actually made this video together with them! It's a really inspiring video. 其中一个他最爱的练习语言的方法，就是通过Skype和母语人士聊天。他和很多这些说不同语言的小伙伴们一起做了一个视频——一个非常鼓舞人的视频。

Benny's Story 本尼的故事
I’m not gifted with languages. I don’t have the “language gene” (if such a thing exists). 我并不是一个有语言天赋的人，我没有”语言基因“（如果真有语言基因这种东西存在的话）
How do I know? 你问我怎么知道的？
I struggled with languages for years. 因为我曾经被语言这种东西困扰了许多年！
At school, I spent 11 years studying Irish (Gaeilge) and 5 years studying German. Even after all this study, I still couldn’t speak them. 在学校的时候，我花了11年的时间学习爱尔兰语（盖尔语），花了5年的时间学习德语，但这么多年的时间过去了，我依然没办法说出口。 By the time I reached my 20’s I could still only speak English. 然后我都20几岁了，却依然只会说英文。
After college, I moved to Spain. “If I’m living in another country, I’ll be sure to pick up the language,” I reasoned. I spent six months in Spain. I took expensive language classes. I studied every day. I repeated the same words and phrases over and over. 大学毕业以后，我搬到了西班牙。“如果我住在别的国家，我肯定能学到那里的外语，”我这样推论过。于是我在西班牙呆了6个月，我报了昂贵的语言班，每天去上课，一遍又一遍的重复的那些单词。
But I still couldn’t actually speak Spanish. 但！是！我还是不会说西班牙语…
While in Spain, I met a guy who changed my life. He was at an international party, switching from one language to another as he moved between guests. 在西班牙的时候，我遇到了一个改变了我人生的人，当时是在一个国际派对上，他穿梭在宾客中，不停地切换着不同的外语，与人们交谈着。
“How do you do it?” I asked. “你是怎么做到的？”我问道。
He explained that to speak a language, you’ve just got to start speaking it. There’s no magic, he said. You only need a willingness to make mistakes. 他解释说，要会说一门语言，你就应该真的开口去说这门语言。“没有什么神奇的方法”，他说，“而是你要有不怕犯错的决心！” I tried his advice, and I’ve never looked back since. 我就试着像他说的那样去做，然后真的就再也停不下来了！
Within six months, I was a confident Spanish speaker. I then moved to Italy, where I started speaking Italian. 6个月的时间里，我能很自信地去说西班牙语，然后我就搬去了意大利开始学习意大利语。
I’ve since lived in the United States, France, Brazil, Ireland, Germany, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Belgium, the Netherlands, China and Taiwan. While living in these countries, I’ve used my techniques to become fluent in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Esperanto. I also speak Mandarin Chinese, American Sign Language, Dutch and Irish to a conversational level. 我后来在美国、法国、巴西、爱尔兰、德国、阿根廷、秘鲁、哥伦比亚、比利时、荷兰、中国以及台湾地区都住过一段时间。我在这些地方的时候，就会用我学到的语言技巧，把西班牙语、法语、德语、意大利语、葡萄牙语以及世界语，都能说得流利起来。而且我还能用中文、美国手语、荷兰语以及爱尔兰语达到自由交流的水平。
Learning languages has given me confidence in conversations, new friends and insight into other cultures. It’s opened up new worlds for me. I set up this community so others can have the same experience. 学习新的语言给了我在交流沟通方面的自信、新的朋友和深入其他文化的洞察力。它为我打开了一扇新世界的大门，我开创这个社区就是希望其他人也能有同样的体验。
