In women's taekwondo, China's Zheng Shuyin would beat Mexico's Maria Espinoza 5-1 in the final to win gold in the over-67kg division in taekwondo. Great Britain's Bianca Walkden and American Jackie Galloway share the bronze medals.

Chinese wins 21-18, 21-18 as Malaysian loses third Olympic Final

In the final of men's singles badminton, China's Chen Long would face Lee Chong Wei for the gold medal after the Malaysian finally beat Lin Dan in the Olympics to reach his third title match of the Games. But once again, Lee would fall short as Chen beats the 33 year old in straight sets, 21-18 and 21-18. Chen, who won bronze in London in 2012, would be overwhelmed by the moment and slump to his knees in victory.

Chen Aisen wins men's 10m platform gold

Over to the pool for the men's 10m platform, where Chen Aisen would top the posdium for a second time in Rio to give China a seventh gold out of eight diving events. The 20-year-old, already a winner in the 10m synchronised platform, scores 585.30 points which is enough to beat Mexico's German Sanchez into silver while David Boudia of the USA takes bronze .

South Korea's Inbee Park wins gold in women's golf

South Korea's Inbee Park wins the second gold medal ever awarded in women's golf after the first in the 1900 Paris Games. 116 years later it's back in Rio and Park would shoot a five under 66 in the fourth round for a final score of 16 under par, five strokes ahead of world number one Lydia Ko of New Zealand. China's Feng Shanshan wins bronze at minus 10.
