悲伤逆流成河——如何用英语表达“不开心”

秋天来了，愁绪满腹。

早上起来感觉身体无缘无故“被掏空”，对什么事都提不起兴趣。朋友问及原因，自己支支吾吾说不出所以然。

谈论悲伤时，有哪些地道表达可以派上用场？

1. down in the mouth

█ 释义：When you look down in the mouth, you look depressed and unhappy. 闷闷不乐，沮丧

举个栗子：

l feel l should apologize to everyone… for my behaviour over the last six months. l have, as you know, been somewhat down in the mouth.
我觉得应该向所有人道歉……为我过去的六个月的行为道歉。你们也知道，我有点沮丧。

（想象一下，嘴角往下的感觉，是不是很像不开心的样子？）

2. down in the dumps

█ 释义：feel depressed or miserable 沮丧，难过

举个栗子：

Bart had been down in the dumps since he failed his history exam.

巴特历史课挂科后一直很沮丧。

3. reduced to tears

█ 释义：When someone or something reduces you to tears, they make you feel so unhappy that you cry. 难过得落泪

举两个栗子：

Her boss reduced her to tears when he shouted at her.

她老板冲她大喊，把她弄哭了。

She was reduced to tears by their criticisms.

他们的批评使她流下了眼泪。

4. have a lump in your throat

█ 释义：so unhappy or depressed that you feel all choked up 哽咽

举个栗子：

That movie The English Patient was so touching that I had a lump in my throat several times when watching it.              

《英国病人》那部电影太感人了，我观影时数度哽咽。

5. feel blue/have the blues

█ 释义：depressed or unhappy 沮丧，不开心

You can say “I feel blue.” or “Someone has the blues.”

举两个栗子：

Emily has the blues because she hasn’t seen her boyfriend for a month.

艾米莉一个月没见她男盆友了，她很难过。

When I’m feeling blue I watch some happy movies to cheer myself up.

每当我不开心时，我就看些欢乐的电影让自己开心起来。

6. face like a wet weekend

█ 释义：British slang. If your face looks like a wet weekend or if you have a face like a wet weekend, it means you look sad and miserable.  不开心，难受的

举个栗子：

What’s wrong? You’ve had a face like a wet weekend all day long!

怎么啦？你一整天都不开心。
