奥地利萨尔茨堡市，特别是历史悠久的城中心-老城 Historic Centre of the City of Salzburg，是欧洲最可爱的地方之一。1997年萨尔茨堡老城被联合国教科文组织指定为世界文化遗产，赢得了国际上的赞誉。作为该城市历史上重要交通线的盐河蜿蜒穿过城市中心，把城市划分成两半，也就是所谓的盐河左岸和右岸。盐河左岸就是老城，曾经是古罗马时期的定居地。老城内大部分区域都属于步行区，几乎所有的著名景点都集中在老城中，比如萨尔茨堡城堡，大教堂，米拉贝尔宫殿和花园，莫扎特出生地和故居，以及奥地利最美的购物街-粮食大街等等。
